FILMMAKING: DOCUMENTARY, DRAMA, COMEDY & COMMISSIONED Independent Filmmaker Roberto Mighty writes, directs and edits out of his studio on the East Coast. He originates films and takes commissions. He is currently Directing "KolorGirlz," a documentary feature about the onstage performances and traumatic offstage lives of seven women standup comedians of color across the USA. He is also directing a film on post-Katrina New Orleans educational relief efforts. Roberto created the critically acclaimed "Chinese Lessons" documentary on world poetry, with the cooperation of Harvard University, the Emily Dickinson Homestead and Zhejiang Province TV. |

KolorGirlz (work-in-progress, 2005-2007) KolorGirlz is a feature documentary film about seven women standup comedians of color from across the USA. KolorGirlz has recently been accepted by the Independent Feature Project (IFP) in New York for fiscal sponsorship. KolorGirlz' up-and-coming women writer/performers include an Iranian-American; a Korean-American; a Transsexual; a Latin-American, a Lesbian, a Working Mom, and an African-American. KolorGirlz will change the way you look at race, women and sex. KolorGirlz explores the comedian's traumatic backstories, their moments of triumph, and how their struggles affect the lives of their loved ones. |

Chinese Lessons (- Biopic - 1997) "Chinese Lessons" is a biographical film about China's leading translator of world poetry. This film traces his remarkable odyssey from a boyhood in exile to imprisonment during the Cultural Revolution to his triumphant winning of the China Book Prize. Chinese Lessons explores his lifelong love affair with great poets of the world, including Emily Dickinson, Wang Wei, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Federico Garcia Lorca and Edgar Allen Poe. "Chinese Lessons" was produced in cooperation with Zhejiang Province Television, with assistance from Harvard University, the Emily Dickinson Homestead, the Frost Library at Amherst College and the Whittier Birthplace. |
