Series premieres in web-friendly 5 to 15-minute segments on Tuesday, January 13th, and weekly on Tuesdays for 10 weeks. Web visitors can find videos, recipes, and anecdotes about the food and music in the series at http://www.robertomighty.com. Press Preview Members of the Press are invited to preview the premier video episode now at the following URL: http://www.vimeo.com/2760058 Mixing Music and Cooking Each KiTCHEN MuSIC webisode features an introduction by Mr. Mighty, followed by his singing and playing a song he associates with that episode's recipe. For example, his jazz-influenced version of "Misty" makes Mr. Mighty think of foggy mornings. His recipe for this song is Lox 'n Eggs with Grits and fresh Avocado, spritz of lime. Mr. Mighty then goes on to cook the entire recipe, in real time, on camera. A high definition camera crew is on hand in Roberto's actual home kitchen to catch all the action. Musically, Roberto specializes in jazzy guitar stylings while singing popular American standards, like “Misty,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “Autumn Leaves” and “Night and Day.” Eclectic Home Cooking With a Twist Mr. Mighty stresses throughout the series that he is not a chef, "just a guy who likes to cook," although his work as a TV food producer with chefs like Todd English, Ming Tsai and Lydia Shire raises expectations. His dishes are idiosyncratic, such as the aforementioned mix of a New York staple like Lox 'n Eggs with southern-style Grits and trendy Avocado. "All these dishes reflect my life experiences and foods I serve to family and friends. My family lived in Alaska and New York when I was growing up. My Mom is from Cincinatti, my Dad is from Panama, and I've spent the past twenty years eating foods from all over the world. Hopefully, people will like the combinations I put together," says Mighty. Mighty Cuisine Mighty's on-camera recipes for the KiTCHEN MuSIC series include: Citrus Ginger Shrimp, Angel Hair Pasta and Sautéed Garlic Spinach; Buttermilk Blueberry Pancakes with Fresh Fruit salad; Grilled Pork Chops (southern style) with Butternut Squash and Kale Simmered in White Wine; Grilled Scallops Vietnamese Style, with Lemongrass, Zucchini, Jasmine Rice and Thai Basil; Broiled Salmon (Latin style), with Mango/Garlic/Red Onion Relish, and Haricots Vert Sauteed with Minced Garlic; Tossed Salad & Scrambled Eggs with 5 sweet & bitter lettuces; Sauteed Tofu with Garlic and Cilantro; and other dishes. Music Album Tie-in The original recipes in this series are inspired by Roberto's new jazz/pop album, KiTCHEN MuSIC, featuring Berklee College professor and radio favorite Walter Beasley on saxophone, now available on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby . “My Mom used to sing and whistle in the kitchen when I was a boy, and I’ve carried on that tradition, adding my guitar playing and also jamming (and sometimes dancing) in the kitchen with musician friends and guests while we cook.” Future episodes may include guest musicians and chefs, says Mighty.
